The Data Analytics/Senior Sourcing Associate supports the Director in planning and executing Sourcing Excellence’s (SE) data analytics efforts. The SE team in Tampa is responsible for driving superior execution of category strategies and business solutions in partnership with category managers through insights, agility and innovation. This role will interact directly with Information Technology (IT), Business Insights and Analytics (BI&A), external partners and internal affiliates to deliver innovative, insightful, and actionable Global Procurement (GP) analyses. This role is responsible for conceptualizing and executing qualitative and quantitative research projects and analyses to help drive data-based decision making in the GP space. The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic sourcing opportunities for our company. They will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for sourcing employees to follow. They will use advanced data modeling, data cleaning methods and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes. The right person for the job will apply their knowledge of data analysis to solving real-world problems faced by our company and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units. The role will be aligned to our strategic sourcing category teams supporting the development of global category strategies. Project work includes identification of appropriate data sources, data mining, analysis and summary of data and collaboration with customer on presentation of results. In addition, this role serves as a data analytics knowledge resource for the SE and Sourcing Strategy teams. The core data analytics will be focused on the Global Procurement function which could include: Analytics related to overall company spend, analyzing our supplier base, analysis related to our transactions and analytics related to our industry or trends in commodity pricing. In addition analytics that can be used to improve our sourcing process for example the request for pricing (RFP) process or our contracting process. This role will be responsible for developing a training plan for building basic analytical skills within Global Procurement.
In addition this role may be asked to support specific sourcing projects as needed.
Develop and execute SE’s annual Data Analytics Plan (DAP). Participate in the DAP program’s weekly core team meetings and the monthly steering committee meetings
Collaborate with all stakeholders to continually refine and enhance existing analytics and identify potential new opportunities to further drive SE/GP’s effectiveness and efficiency through the use of technology
Includes assisting with identification of appropriate data sources for the analytical objectives, acquiring and storing the data for the project, programming the appropriate statistical analyses using BMS standard tools, delivering results to customers in appropriate formats and media, and assisting with follow-up questions.
Use Analytics to drive ideas in our Supply Chain operations, Commercialization and R&D business to identify and recommend new innovations
Make sound sourcing decisions based on a balance of data, analysis and experience (supplier selection, pricing, negotiation levelers, etc.)
Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support our sourcing process.
Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive guidelines and processes.
Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, cleaning, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.
Manage our Resource Allocation tool and highlight areas of opportunities for greater collaboration and development.
Leverage internal tools to formulate insights to drive productivity and CI.
Examine, interpret and report results of analytical initiatives to stakeholders
Oversee the data/report requests process: tracking requests submitted, approval and prioritization
Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Keep abreast of the sourcing strategy timelines and work with IT to ensure Dashboards are available and maintain SE’s Data Analytic SharePoint site.
Develop SE’s staff by improving their skills in areas of technology and data analysis.
Assist the Director and implementation teams in actively driving the integration of data analytics and associated visualizations into our sourcing process.
Assist the Director in developing and executing training for SE and business users on data analytic concepts and developing their capability to effectively use Sourcing analytics.
Determine appropriate methods of procurement; solicit bids, quotations and proposals; evaluate competitive offerings; recommend overall best offer for a product or service; and lead moderately/highly-complex competitive sourcing events and supplier negotiations (depending on category complexity).
Understand the product lifecycle process, its impact on the organization (short and long term) and apply knowledge of the global value chain to provide strategic industry insights and identify potential opportunities that may shorten/improve product lifecycle or offer integration opportunities across categories that ultimately lead to a BMS competitive advantage.
Review and critically assess business specifications and statements of work; negotiate and develop contracts for legal review and approval.
Lead and participate in organizational development efforts in Sourcing Excellence, such as process improvement, capabilities and junior staff development.
Bachelor’s Degree (Science or Engineering desirable).
Minimum of 5 years work experience and at least 3 years Procurement experience.
Knowledge and proficiency with SAP, Ariba and other management and financial information systems.
SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.
Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources.
Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations for business units.
Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc.
Experience writing advanced SAS code statements, models, and macros.
Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills.
The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience in a position monitoring, managing, manipulating and drawing insights from data, and someone with at least 3 years of experience in Sourcing.
The right candidate will also be proficient and experienced with the following tools/programs:
Strong programming skills with querying languages: SLQ, SAS, etc.
Experience with big data tools: Teradata, Aster, Hadoop, etc.
Experience with data visualization tools: Tableau, Raw, Spotfire, hart.js, etc.
C, C++, JAVA, or other programming languages
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
