Bristol Myers Squibb Senior Product Manager, Upper Gastro Intestine (Upper GI) in SHINJUKU, Japan

Business level of Japanese skill is required.

Main Objective:

Achieve successful launch of Opdivo’s Gastric Cancer (GC) and Esophageal Cancer (EC) and expand position of Immuno-Oncology in treatment of Japanese Upper GI. In addition, unlike similar positions, this role is highly expected to take the lead in WW Upper GI strategy, collaborating with Ono and WW Upper GI team, as the launch country of GC indication.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Plan brand strategy to maximize brand values based on generated current and predicted customer insights
  • Understand customer’s thoughts, needs and expectations / HCPs, Patients and payers

  • Find business opportunities and key success factors

  • Identify key leverages and set right scenarios-strategies in right orders of priorities

  • Plan right actions at appropriate timing and budget operational expense and FTE/# of DTLs in marketing plan

  • Finally, develop consensus step by step of all above items around GC and EC indication with BMSKK senior management, WW Upper GI and Ono

  1. Lead excellent launch execution, especially in commercial, through both collaboration and negotiation with Ono
  • POA to sales force

  • Implement right customer targeting strategy in field

  • Plan sales training with training team

  • Support area planning by FLMs to optimize district marketing plan

  1. Competitive Thought Leader Engagement to increase brand advocacy

  2. Launch Governance in any other launch readiness activities across matrix organization

  3. Report brand performance and business status properly to BMS internal stakeholder


1, Principals of marketing and strategy

2, Basic knowledge about healthcare system in Japan

3, Basic knowledge of project management

4, Basic knowledge of finance and accounting to manage product P/L


1, High implementation of BMS behavior / Speed, Passion, Innovation and accountability with sense of compliance

2, Logical thinking to find and solve issues

3, Strong Leadership to involve people and lead team

4, Communication and negotiation skill to convince key customers and team members

5, Resiliency under any conditions


1, At least 10 years of pharmaceutical experience with ideally 5 years of marketing experience

2, Experience to launch at least one brand / indication as brand lead

3, Significant business experience including strong customer relationship with key customers in Upper GI field is highly preferred.

4, Successful leadership experience in commercial organization such as RSD, FLM and Senior Product Manager (D6+ role)

5, Global Marketing Experience (Preferred)


1, Native Japanese (Necessary to collaborate with Ono )

2, Fluent English (Necessary to discuss and execute business with WW team)
