The Associate Research Scientist will join the Oncology Discovery research team at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Redwood City, CA to support early drug discovery programs by identification of cancer dependencies and targets mediating tumor resistance to therapeutics.
The qualified candidate is a technically skilled individual that possesses the ability to carry on CRISPR based high throughput screening assays. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear understanding of principals of target identification using forward genetic screens, proficiency in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, professional verbal and written communication skills.
The primary responsibilities for this role include preparation of lentivirus, transduction and maintenance of modified cancer cell lines, DNA extraction and library preparation for NGS.
A B.S. or M.S. with 1-3+ years of academic/industrial experience with strong scientific knowledge and research experience in cancer/cellular biology.
Hands on experience with target identification using genome wide or custom CRISPR-based genetic screens is required.
Experience with in-vitro cellular and biochemical assays, including human/mouse cancer cell cultures, lentivirus generation and cell transduction.
Working knowledge of tissue processing and molecular biology skills, including nucleic acid purification, and PCR.
Experience with library preparation for NGS is highly desirable.
Knowledge of in vivo/ex vivo pharmacology and basics of multicolor flow cytometry is desirable.
Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills is a requirement.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people is required.
Proficiency in utilizing software such as Graph Pad, Microsoft office etc. for data analysis and figure generation is required.
This position is located in Redwood City, CA. There will be less than 10% travel.
