Position Summary:

The Director of WW Oncology Strategy/BD reporting to the VP, WW Oncology Strategy, BD and Clinical Collaborations will help lead the continuous development/shaping of the BMS solid tumor Oncology TA and disease area strategies and also provide commercial input into Business Development opportunities (collaborations, partnerships, licensing, and acquisitions).

The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization, with high expectations and accountability on quality of deliverables. The candidate will also need to work in a cross-function matrix with other key stakeholders such as Discovery, Drug Development, Medical, Commercial, BD, Search & Evaluations, Transaction teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development of the franchise strategic plan as part of the overall enterprise-level effort

  • Lead/co-lead workstreams in support of the franchise and disease area strategic initiatives which may include the following:

  • Support the ongoing development/refinement of disease area strategies/operations of several Tumor Strategy Teams

  • Competitive analysis / scenario planning associated with tumor, market, and portfolio level dynamics to support focused opportunity assessments (i.e., targeted tumor strategy refresh)

  • Lead cross functional matrix teams to conduct thorough BD commercial opportunity assessments tailored to stage of development and size of transactions. Assessments include but not limited to sizing the market potential, prioritizing business opportunities, building competitive landscapes, creating target opportunity profile, and forecasting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS/BA or equivalent required; an MBA or other advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 10 year plus experience within corporate or business development strategy and/or in a global marketing experience within pharmaceutical / biotech industry preferred

  • Experience in Oncology and partnering with Global Drug Development/Research & Early Development preferred

  • Strong ability to understand and engage in scientific and clinical data communication effectively

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills enabling effective structuring of business problems and development of strategic disease and franchise recommendations; development of market/asset forecasts and market sizing.

  • Demonstrated success in mobilizing cross-functional matrix teams to drive optimal business results

  • Proven ability to develop executive-ready presentations coupled with strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Well organized with a proven ability to build out a practical workplan, prioritize work with autonomy, balance multiple major strategic initiatives simultaneously and drive results with speed

  • Listens/considers alternative ideas, viewpoints and encourages debate on others' ideas

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
