Bristol Myers Squibb Research Investigator- Protein Analytics and Characterization in New Brunswick, New Jersey
At Bristol-Myers Squibb, we’re creating innovative medicines for patients who are fighting serious diseases. We’re also nurturing our own team with inspiring work and exciting career options. No matter our role, each of us makes a contribution. And that makes all the difference.
The department of Drug Product Science & Technology at Bristol-Myers Squibb is seeking a highly motivated scientist to be part of the Parenteral Science and Technology Analytics Group. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the analysis and characterization of biologic drug candidates in support of formulation and process development throughout all stages of clinical and commercial drug product development.
This individual should have demonstrated fundamental knowledge of protein structure and degradation mechanisms including chemical stability, physical stability and interactions with common excipients and surfaces. Hands-on experience with analytical and biophysical characterization techniques to monitor and investigate protein stability as it relates to protein-protein, protein-excipient and protein-surface interactions is also required. Additional experience with aggregate characterization and sub-visible particle analysis, particularly in relation to highly concentrated, viscous or turbid protein solutions, is highly desirable.
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and enthusiasm for working with multidisciplinary teams to develop and advance biologic drug products. This requires rigorous design and execution of experiments along with high quality and timely documentation, data review and presentation of scientific results, both independently and collaboratively.
The successful candidate must have an advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or related field, with 0-3 years of relevant industrial or postdoctoral experience required with a PhD degree, or a minimum of 5 years of experience with a M.S. degree.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience using methods for biophysical analysis (e.g. light scattering (DLS/SLS), particle characterization, circular dichroism, DSC, DSF) as well as chromatographic (SEC, IEX, HIC, RPLC) and electrophoretic (iCIEF, CE-SDS) techniques for the analysis of proteins.
