Utilize state of the art technologies to identify important pathways and targets in the development of fibrotic diseases; Establish assays that reflect important fibrotic mechanisms; Act as the biology lead for drug discovery projects in multidisciplinary teams; Supervise a small group of junior scientists with in vitro cell-based assay expertise; Analyze, review and interpret complex data sets; Interact in a productive manner with other therapy areas and external academic collaborators; Present at internal and external meetings.
PhD in cell biology, pharmacology or other relevant scientific area; At least 6 years of research experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry; Research experience in and a strong understanding of fibrotic mechanisms and signaling pathways and knowledge of fibrotic or fibrotic-related diseases, particularly lung and liver fibrosis; An understanding of in vivo models of fibrosis is desirable; Demonstrated project leadership and supervisory experience; Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to diverse functional groups; The ability to work in cross-functional matrix teams; Strong peer-review publication record.
